Carnation (Thread Crochet)

This is a carnation pattern I just came up with to be made with size 10 Crochet Cotton (Below) and a size 6 steel hook. You could make it in regular yarn, but it would be gigantic. I have another, older version that is made with yarn and is also called a snowball pattern. I will post that one separately, but I like this version better because it's more appropriately sized for real carnations. You can always use stems from artificial flowers and attach the carnation to the top of the stem so it looks like a floral arrangement.

Begin with a magic circle (or chain 4, join to first chain with slip stitch) then chain three, and do 15 dc in circle. Join to first ch 3 with slip stitch.

Row 2: chain 3, do 3 dc in every dc from previous round. Join with slip stitch to starting chain 3.

Row 3: Chain 3, Do 3 dc in every dc from previous round. Join with slip stitch to starting chain 3.

Row 4: Chain 3, do 3 dc in every dc from previous round. Join with slip stitch to starting chain 3.

Row 5: Chain 1, 1 dc in same space. *Chain 3, sc in next dc of previous round* repeat from * to * all the way around, ch 3, join with slip stitch to beginning chain 1, finish off.
